A success built on solid foundations.
Emak was incorporated in 1992, a merger of two major companies specializing in the production of gardening and forestry machines: Oleo-Mac and Efco, both of which had been active since the '70s in Northern Italy's burgeoning enterprise sector.
Oleo-Mac, founded in 1972 by Ariello Bartoli, now president of the parent company Yama S.p.A. (an industrial holding corporation that owns 30 companies), quickly established itself as a maker of chainsaws produced and assembled on industrial scale.
Efco was set up in 1978, the brainchild of Giacomo Ferretti, now president of Emak from 2001 to 2010. Within a short space of time, Efco became a leading manufacturer of brushcutters, just as the demand for these machines was on the rise.
Soon enough, the executive teams of Oleo-Mac and Efco decided to pool the production and managerial resources of their single enterprises in a single company: Emak. This merger created the right conditions for increased competitiveness and dynamism, thanks to the perfect integration of the product ranges offered by the two businesses.
Ever since its incorporation a quarter of a century ago Emak has been an integral part of the Yama Group, and now enjoys flagship status, accounting as it does for over a third of total group sales. The quality of the company’s offering has been well rewarded by the market, as witness the constant growth in sales, production capability and human resources achieved year on year. Indeed Emak today is an industry leader in Italy, and ranks also among the premier European manufacturers in its sector. |
